The 6th edition of the Mentorship and Volunteerism Excellence (MVE) Awards took center stage at the Ghana-Indian Kofi-Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT on Saturday, 15th November 2025. The prestigious event, organized by Captain Foundation, ICS Africa, StudentPreneurship Africa and partners, brought together mentors, volunteers, and leaders from across the continent to celebrate outstanding contributions to mentorship, volunteerism, and community development.

A Night of celebrating Harmony in Action

The evening began with a vibrant pre-event session, where nominees and attendees were welcomed with photo moments and red carpet interviews, setting the tone for an inspiring night. The ceremony was co-hosted by Emmaline Datey, Founder of ICS Africa.

Mr. Atsu George Geraldo de Lima delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of mentorship in shaping Africa’s future. 

The keynote address was delivered by Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, Ambassador Extraordinaire & Plenipotentiary of the Suriname Embassy to Ghana, who highlighted the role of mentorship and volunteerism in fostering cross-border collaboration, cultural heritage and innovation.

Panel Discussion: The Digital Revolution in Mentorship

A thought-provoking panel discussion on “The Digital Revolution in Mentorship: Breaking Barriers Across Africa” featured prominent speakers:

– Josiah Kwesi Eyison, CVO and Innovation Strategist at iSpace Foundation

– Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa

– Elizabeth Patterson, Founder of Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG)

– Ibrahim Asante, Founder of Significant International Training Systems (SITS) and Ag. Deputy CEO of CSIR-TDTC

The panel explored how virtual platforms and AI-powered tools are transforming mentorship, making it more accessible and impactful across Africa.

Dr. Charles Buckman, the founder of Charles Buckman foundation and the chairman of the occasion, retreated the important of mentorship and volunteerism in this changing times, emphasizing on the need to transition from Artificial intelligent to Spiritual Intelligence as a platform to sustainable and holistic development as a continent.

Special awards were also presented to deserving organizations making tremendous impact in girls’ empowerment, child rights advocacy and quality, Girls guide Ghana and Gye-Nyame kids foundation respectively.

The ceremony also witnessed the celebration and recognition of some key organizations and individuals contributing towards achievement of the sustainable development goals also known as Agenda 2030.

Attendees were treated to captivating performances by Otumfuo Owusu Ntiamoah, US Marine Corps Ambassador for Cultural and Tourism, and Miller Greg the Comedian, adding a touch of entertainment to the evening.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Atsu George Geraldo de Lima, expressed gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and partners for their unwavering support. He reiterated the importance of mentorship and volunteerism in driving sustainable development across Africa, urging everyone to get committed to the organizations vision of empowering 1 million youth and business startups through accelerated mentorship by 2030, and to continue making a difference in their communities.

The night concluded with a networking reception, fostering connections and collaborations among Africa’s brightest minds.
