Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, has lauded the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah for his unwavering principles and pivotal role in the National Democratic Congress’ recent election triumph.

Speaking in Accra, Ablakwa revealed how Boamah defied family political roots to join the NDC purely on conviction.

Born into an NPP-aligned family and even holding its membership card, Boamah could have secured personal advancement under former President Kufuor.

Instead, deep ideological discussions with veteran Ato Ahwoi steered him toward the then-opposition NDC. “He chose conscience over comfort,” Ablakwa stressed, noting Boamah’s loyalty never wavered.

His strategic genius shone as NDC Election Director, where he pioneered body cameras for vote protection—securing one of the party’s most decisive wins. Few realize he also crafted landmark policies like Free Primary Healthcare and Mahama Cares.

Yet beyond politics, Ablakwa highlighted Boamah’s devotion to his wife Rita and their three children. “Family time was sacred to him,” he shared.

For Ablakwa, Boamah’s legacy blends political brilliance with profound humanity a father and comrade whose impact endures. As the ruling NDC prepares for 2028, his blueprint remains vital.
