Eyewitness’s harrowing account of the incident
Famous Afudego, a family relative of the deceased, recounted the tragic events, painting a vivid picture of the day.
He made it known that the three young men were returning from the funeral of his [Famous] grandfather, David Afudego, at Akosombo when the accident occurred.
“They were coming from a funeral at Akosombo when the accident happened. I was also at the same funeral but decided to join a car back to Battor and they used a motorbike,” Afudego told YEN.com.gh.
He added, “Immediately I got to Battor, I had a call that my brothers were involved in an accident, and so I rushed back immediately. My ‘spirit’ left my body when I arrived at the scene and saw them by the roadside. Elisa died on the spot, and the other two were rushed to the Catholic Hospital in Battor, where they were pronounced dead a few hours after arrival.”

Afudego further told YEN.com.gh that the driver of a vehicle trailing behind the victims provided a crucial detail regarding the cause of the collision.
“The driver who was at the back of them told us [Afudego and those at the scene] that the driver was dodging a pothole and as a result, entered my brother’s lane, resulting in the head-on collision,” he explained.
Asked if the driver responsible for the accident was arrested, the deceased’s brother said, “Up till now, the driver is nowhere to be found. The police are still looking for him. His car has also been towed to the police station.”
