Fans are voicing concerns over the health of Brazilian legend Adriano after he was seen barefoot on the street drinking beer.

The former Inter Milan striker, who earned 48 caps for Brazil, was once among the most feared forwards in world football.

He retired in 2016 at the age of 34, having collected 14 major trophies, including four Serie A titles with Inter.

Despite his immense talent and early promise, Adriano never fully lived up to expectations after his explosive Brazil debut at 18, when many tipped him as Ronaldo’s natural heir.

His career trajectory changed drastically following the tragic death of his father, which plunged him into a long struggle with depression and alcoholism.

Now 42, the former striker, who netted 27 goals in 48 appearances for Brazil between 2000 and 2010, battled these challenges throughout his playing days.

Adriano spotted hanging out and drinking with pals

Adriano, who hung up his boots in 2016 and is most remembered for his successful spell with Inter Milan, appears almost unrecognisable in a viral social media video that has already surpassed six million views.

The clip shows him seemingly intoxicated, though some fans insist he has overcome his struggles with alcohol and was simply spending time with friends.

His battles with depression and alcoholism began during his Inter days in Italy after the devastating loss of his father.

Despite owning a luxury apartment in Rio de Janeiro, Adriano frequently returns to the favelas where he grew up, staying connected to his roots.

In a 2018 interview with Brazilian outlet R7, Adriano said:

“Only I know how much I suffered.

“The death of my father left me with this huge void, I felt very lonely. After his death everything got worse, because I isolated myself.

“I was alone in Italy, sad and depressed, and then I started drinking. I only felt happy when I was drinking, I’d do it every night.

“I drank everything I could get my hands on: wine, whisky, vodka, beer. Lots of beer. I didn’t stop drinking and in the end I had to leave Inter.’

Adriano entered retirement at the age of 34 eight years ago having clinched 14 trophies, including four Serie A titles with Inter in the Italian top-flight.
