Legendary Ghanaian TV personality Madam Afia Ansaa Ampene has made a rare public appearance in many years.

On Monday, August 4, 2025, the Mmaa Nkomo host visited Daddy Lumba’s residence at East Legon, Accra, to commiserate with his family following the veteran musician’s demise.

The music icon passed away at 60 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from a short illness while he was on admission at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, for treatment.

Prominent personalities have visited his residence to mourn with his family, with a Candle Night Vigil held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, to honour his memory and celebrate his legacy.

Afia Ansaa visits Daddy Lumba’s residence

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, Madam Afia Ansaa Ampene wore an all-black outfit as she arrived at the residence holding hands with an unidentified man.

The veteran TV show host engaged in what seemed to be a friendly conversation with the individual as she entered Daddy Lumba’s house to sign the book of condolences and mourn with the family.

She also spoke with the media, who had gathered at the late music icon’s house following her visit.

Other prominent individuals, including the Deputy British High Commissioner to Ghana, Keith McMahon, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, were also present at the residence to visit the family.

Madam Afia Ansaa Ampene, the once-vibrant TV personality, appeared to be in the twilight of her life, as she appeared at the residence of the late Daddy Lumba, whose Nyame Nhyira Mma song from his 1998 album, Aben Wo Ha, was the theme song of her popular Mmaa Nkomo show.

However, in 2017, she faced a major scandal after she and her son, Stephen Kwabena, were dragged before the court for an alleged fraud case.

They were alleged to have collected goods worth GH¢265,988 from a dealer of Nestlé and Unilever products with the promise of selling the items and returning the proceeds in 2016.

However, they failed to keep their promise and allegedly went into hiding from the individual they owed. The mother and son were subsequently arrested and arraigned before the court.

Madam Afia Ansaa Ampene and her son, Stephen Kwabena, were granted bail in the sum of GH¢205,900 with three sureties. The outcome of the case is still unknown, with the Mmaa Nkomo host stepping out of the limelight.
