The first-ever Africa Week UK, a landmark three-day celebration of African culture, creativity, and commerce, will take place from October 2–4, 2025 at Woolwich Works, London. Timed to usher in Black History Month, the event will bring together leaders across entertainment, fashion, arts, politics, and business to showcase Africa’s global influence and aims to enhance opportunities for trade, investment, and cultural exchange between the African continent and the UK.
Highlights include a keynote address by H.E. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, alongside influential voices and advocates of Africa’s creative economy, including Dr. Adesegun Adeosun Jnr., Co-Founder of Afro Nation, the world’s premier African music and culture festival, and CEO of SMADE Entertainment; and UK-Ghana film & TV executive, Tim Yaw Struthers, who serves as Strategic Advisor, Global engagement to Ghana’s National Film Authority, Executive Producer of the Change Africa podcast, and Head of Original Brands at Sky. Adeosun and Struthers will discuss the huge successes, global impact, and the influence the creative economy now has, while also dissecting the challenges around scaling, monetizing, and securing distribution.
The programme will also feature Bell Ribeiro-Addy, MP, who will explore Africa’s cultural and political impact in the UK, Alex Apau Dadey, Executive Chairman of the KGL Group, and Kojo Marfo, Founder of My Runway Group and Vice Chair of the Mayor of London’s Black Community Advisory Group. The multi-day experience also features investment and diplomatic panels, underscoring Africa’s position as both a cultural powerhouse and a rapidly growing global market.
Organised by AFCHAT in partnership with GUBA Enterprises, Access Media, and KAYA, Africa Week UK is set to become an annual event connecting Africa and the UK across industries, while highlighting the contributions of Africans and the diaspora to Britain’s economy and creative sectors.
