Aglow Farms Limited, a titan of Ghana’s poultry industry with over three decades of service, has officially launched its maiden range of frozen chicken products and unveiled its flagship retail outlet, Aglow House, in a landmark event that underscores its commitment to national food security and self-reliance.
A 30-Year Legacy of Nourishing Ghana
For over 30 years, Aglow Farms has been a proud and dependable part of Ghana’s agricultural fabric. Operating a fully integrated model from its farms in Gomoa Abaasa, Central Region, and Tuba near Kokrobite, Greater Accra Region, the company has consistently provided households with quality eggs, broilers, and layers. Their state-of-the-art, FSSC 22000, FDA, EPA, and GSA-certified processing plant in Gomoa Potsin, Central Region, stands as a testament to an unwavering investment in people, technology, and the highest food safety standards.
Purpose of the Event: A Celebration of Milestones and a New Chapter
The event, as articulated by the Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Kofi Brobbey Kyei, was a powerful celebration of the company’s enduring legacy and its ambitious future.
“We gather to mark a new milestone in that journey,” Mr. Kyei stated in his address. “This launch is about reaffirming our commitment to food security, sustainable agrifood systems, youth employment and women’s empowerment. It is about showing that when we believe in our own capacity as Ghanaians, we can reduce reliance on imports and confidently serve ourselves with safe, delicious, locally produced chicken.”
The event also served to honour the invaluable support of key partners. Mr. Dan Acquaye, CEO of Agri-Impact Group, provided a powerful testament to the partnership’s impact.
“Our mandate was to unlock jobs for young people in the broiler industry,” stated Mr. Acquaye. “Aglow Farms came in as a strong anchor partner that can open up space, and engage, employ and create opportunities. In less than two years of partnership, we are seeing transformative impact… Aglow is positioning itself to take the frustrations of young people and convert them to opportunities and economic power.”
He credited the support of the Mastercard Foundation’s HAPPY programme, which has been fundamental to understanding the industry’s challenges and has already led to the production of almost 3 million birds, as a key driver of this success.
Mr. Eddie Baafi of AfriGem Global shared his excitement: “This is a testament to the resilience of a Ghanaian business who is willing and able to do something if they have the necessary support. Aglow’s chicken is not only locally produced but also locally processed! We are grateful to the MasterCard Foundation for the HAPPY Project and look forward to an outlet in Tema.”
The launch also garnered high-level governmental support. Mr. Daniel Mawuli Kwofie Agbesi of the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat stated: “Our vision is to see an economy that is totally reliant on itself. To do that, we need Aglow Farms. The belief of the 24-hour economy is that the chicken should be from here, processed here, and consumed here. We assure you that our partnership with you will be established and will keep growing.”

Mr. Ricky Aboagye from the Poultry Desk of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) detailed the government’s supportive role. “Through the HAPPY Programme, we have raised the interest of youth in agribusiness. As a ministry, we champion policy and collaborate to harness potential. The government has put in place several interventions… to empower the industry. We provide the level ground for private partnerships to leverage on these opportunities so we can grow the industry.”
Products Designed for the Ghanaian Palate, by Ghanaians
The launch introduces products crafted with a deep understanding of local tastes and cooking habits.
The flagship Family Pack is a uniquely Ghanaian solution. Recognizing that Ghanaian families value every part of the bird and traditionally buy whole chickens from the market, this pack provides the complete experience. It contains a full assortment of thigh, whole breast, back, wings, drumstick, and gizzards from two whole birds-delivering the authentic variety Ghanaians love, but with the modern convenience of premium, ready-to-use packaging.
Complementing this is the 1kg Gizzard Pack, catering to the high demand for this favourite ingredient.
A key advantage of Aglow’s frozen range is its unparalleled freshness. Unlike imported alternatives that endure long transit and storage times, Aglow Chicken is processed and frozen at peak freshness right here in Ghana. This means consumers are guaranteed a product that retains its natural juiciness, superior taste, and tenderness-the true, authentic flavour of fresh, local poultry, preserved perfectly.
Target Market: All Households in Ghana
This launch specifically targets all households across Ghana, from individuals to large families, as well as local businesses, by providing unmatched convenience, quality, and value from a trusted local source.
