Award-winning Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr, popularly known as Akwaboah Jr, has shared his thoughts on friendship and support within the music industry, noting that there is “no real love” among colleagues.
In an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the musician opened up about who he turns to when faced with challenges, and to the surprise of listeners, he mentioned fellow musician Fameye as his only true confidant.
According to him, Fameye is the only person he frequently talks to, especially when dealing with personal issues.
“Fameye is the only person I can say I talk to often and share my problems with, and he also does the same. He’s a very good guy with deep knowledge about life and the realities we face,” Akwaboah explained.
The two became close friends after meeting in the United States, and their bond has grown stronger since then. Akwaboah revealed that beyond music, they constantly reach out to each other to talk, share experiences, and support one another. He went on to add that Fameye is the only colleague he feels comfortable enough to invite to his home for a casual link-up.

Touching on the broader music space, the singer expressed disappointment about the lack of genuine relationships among colleagues. He explained that while many people in the industry appear supportive on the surface, their interest often fades once their immediate needs are met.
“There is no love in the industry like that. People come to you when they need favors, and once they get it, that’s all,” he stated.
