Ghanaian sports journalist Raymond Nyamador has advised national team veteran Andre “Dede” Ayew to return home and sign for Accra Hearts of Oak if he harbours hopes of a return to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Andre recently parted ways with French Ligue 1 side Le Havre at the end of the 2024/25 season, bringing to a close a two-year stint with the club.

According to Transfermarkt, the former Swansea and Marseille man is now a free agent, and speculation is rife regarding his next destination.
Andre Ayew urged to join Hearts of Oak
Speaking on Sporty FM, Raymond Nyamador encouraged Ayew to consider joining Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak.
According to Nyamador, a move to the local league could rejuvenate Ayew’s Black Stars career under head coach Otto Addo.
“If Dede is serious about returning to the national team setup, especially with the World Cup 2026 on the horizon, he must consider joining Hearts of Oak. Playing in Ghana will bring him closer to the technical team and the fans,” Nyamador stated.
The broadcaster noted that a return to the Ghanaian league would boost Ayew’s visibility and demonstrate his commitment to helping domestic football grow, an act that could endear him once more to the national selectors.
Andre Ayew’s Black Stars future
Andre Ayew has been an iconic figure in Ghanaian football for over a decade, with 120 caps for the national team, according to Wikipedia.
However, his recent absence from the Black Stars lineup in recent years has sparked debate over whether his international career is nearing its end.
For Nyamador, there is only one way that Ayew can get back in the national team mix, particularly as a leader and experienced figure.
”Andre Ayew is a player who enjoys playing in front of big crowds, and if he joins Hearts of Oak, the fans will always come to the stadium to support him. That is how he can rejoin the Black Stars, and maybe go to the World Cup if Ghana qualifies.”

The Sporty FM presenter also cautioned against Ayew signing for another team abroad, especially in obscure or less-competitive leagues. He warned that such a move could significantly reduce his chances of being recalled to the Black Stars.
“If he moves to a club abroad again, in the Middle East or Asia, and scores two or three goals, the technical handlers may overlook him. That would be unfortunate for a player of his caliber,” Nyamador emphasized.
Nyamador’s call is not just about Ayew’s international prospects—it’s also a strategic appeal for local football.
