Reports coming in indicate that renowned Ghanaian inventor, entrepreneur, and religious leader, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has passed away.
The founder of Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies is said to have died peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
According to the reports, both the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have confirmed his passing. News of his death has left many Ghanaians in shock, as Apostle Safo was widely regarded as a national treasure whose works spanned technology, faith, and humanitarian service.
Often referred to as the “Star of Africa”, Apostle Safo was celebrated for pioneering the Kantanka automobile brand, which produced locally assembled vehicles and other innovative machines. His inventions included agricultural equipment, military-style vehicles, household gadgets, and even robotic prototypes. Through his creativity, he inspired confidence in Ghana’s capacity for technological advancement.
Beyond his engineering feats, Apostle Safo built the Kristo Asafo Mission, a religious movement that combined faith with practical solutions to everyday life. The church grew into one of the most vibrant indigenous ministries in Ghana, attracting thousands of members over the years. He was also known for his philanthropic work, supporting education, health, and community development initiatives.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be officially announced, but tributes are expected to pour in from across Ghana and beyond in honor of a man whose vision reshaped both the spiritual and technological landscape of the country.
