The Manhyia Palace has banned all funeral rites across the Ashanti region next Thursday, August 21, 2025, to honor the late Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Her passing was formally announced in a palace statement signed by Deputy Chief of Staff Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III died peacefully on August 7, 2025. Her one-week observance will be held at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from noon until 6 p.m. on August 21.
The palace directive suspends all other funerals to allow the Asantehene and Ashanti people to focus solely on commemorating the Asantehemaa.
“This ban ensures unified respect during this solemn tribute,” the release emphasized. If you planned a funeral that day, you’ll need to reschedule.
The move underscores the deep cultural significance of the Queen Mother’s role in Asante tradition.
