Bayern Munich thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in a high-profile friendly match on August 7, 2025, with many of Spurs’ attacking players failing to impress.

Among those who took to the field was Mohammed Kudus, the Ghanaian international who had recently signed from West Ham United.

Thomas Frank’s players now set their sights on the 2025 UEFA Super Cup match versus Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain.

Kudus’ tough time against Bayern Munich

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Kudus was unable to make a significant impact on the game, earning a disappointing Flashscore rating of 6.2.

It was a challenging match for Spurs, and Kudus’ performance reflected the overall frustration of his side. The new signing was part of an attacking trio that included Richarlison and Brennan Johnson, both of whom also struggled in the encounter.

While Bayern Munich dominated possession and controlled the tempo, Spurs’ forwards were largely absent, leaving Kudus with the difficult task of trying to spark some sort of attacking threat by himself.

Kudus, who had made four appearances in pre-season, was playing his first 90-minute match for Tottenham, having previously featured in shorter spells.

Despite the lengthy run, the former West Ham stars was unable to break the deadlock or create any significant chances that would’ve troubled Bayern’s solid defense.

His usual flair and creativity, which had earned him a reputation at West Ham, were nowhere to be seen as he lacked support from his teammates, particularly from Richarlison and Johnson.

As the right-sided attacker in Spurs’ 4-3-3 formation, Kudus was often isolated, left with the task of generating attacks on his own. Without any consistent support or combination play, the Ghanaian struggled to penetrate Bayern’s back line.

It was clear that Spurs were desperately missing a cutting edge, and Kudus couldn’t be the lone spark they needed to ignite the attack.

Richarlison and Brennan Johnson’s rating

Richarlison, who has often been relied upon for his ability to score goals, failed to make an impact, and his rating of 5.9 reflected his lack of involvement in the game.

Johnson, too, could not rise to the occasion, and his rating of 6.3 was only slightly better. The pair failed to provide the necessary movement or creativity to ease the burden on Kudus, who found himself trying to do too much.

It wasn’t a question of effort but of structure, with Spurs failing to provide a cohesive offensive plan to deal with Bayern’s defensive organization led by Jonathan Tah and Dayo Upamecano.
