This past weekend Dr. Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, the Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), dedicated time to visit and engage with orphans in Ve-Deme, a village in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Understanding the challenges faced by these children, many of whom felt hopeless, the MD aimed to bring joy and a message of hope to their lives.
During the visit, Dr. Dogbey emphasized the importance of community and support, reminding the children that their circumstances do not define their future.
“You have the potential to achieve great things,” he said. “Together, we can build a brighter future, and I want you to believe that.”
A key part of this engagement was the collaboration with member of parliament of the area, Frank Afriyie (Afadzato South) and Hohoe MP Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo who joined in to support the initiative. Pastor Hope Detornu, founder and senior pastor of Agape Regiment church in Ho, provided key insights to make the engagement successful. The involvement of local leaders underscored the collective commitment to improving the lives of the orphans.
In a show of appreciation and as a mark of future collaboration, the two MPs presented Dr. Dogbey with a gift of traditional smock attire, symbolizing unity and support for the cause. This gesture highlighted the importance of working together to uplift the community and create lasting change.
As part of the engagement, Dr. Dogbey shared an unforgettable moment with the orphans by also distributing and enjoying chocolates made from the very cocoa beans that CMC sells. This gesture was not only a treat for the children but also a meaningful connection to the cocoa industry that supports livelihoods and the economy of Ghana.

“This visit is part of my commitment to corporate social responsibility, but my passion for helping the needy drives me to make a difference,” Dr. Dogbey explained. “Every child deserves to feel loved and supported, and I am here to remind them that they are not alone.”
The event was filled with laughter and joy as the children savored the chocolates, creating an atmosphere of warmth and positivity. Dr Dogbey’s heartfelt engagement left a lasting impression on the orphans, many of whom received not just food and supplies, but a renewed sense of hope for their future.

As Dr. Dogbey concluded the visit, he made a promise to the orphans that this would not be the last time they would see each other. “Together, we will continue to spread hope and kindness, ensuring that every child feels valued and empowered.”
Through initiatives like these, Dr. Dogbey aims to create a ripple effect of positivity, inspiring others to contribute to the welfare of the community and improve the lives of those who need it most.
