The team arrived a bit earlier on the day to clean the dusty stands ahead of the opening day of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The volunteers had to do their cleaning in time for the opening fixture of the Ghana Premier League between Accra Hearts of Oak and Hohoe United.
Before they began, the National Sports Authority boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, briefed the Buzstop Boys on the task at hand.
He opened up about the peculiar sanitation needs of the uncovered stadium.
The NSA boss lamented the constant criticisms from irate fans who are quick to complain on social media whenever they find dusty seats at the stadium.
Recently, several videos from fans surfaced online during the Black Stars and Mali fixture.
The NSA boss also expressed the challenges, making it difficult to keep the stadium clean at all times.
Despite the challenges, the Buzstop Boys were glad and eager to get to work. They clapped after the NSA boss’ speech and hit the stands to start the cleaning exercise.
Citizen Kofi recommends Buzstop Boys for stadium job
According to the leader of the Buzstop Boys, Ghanaian economist and businessman, Dr Kofi Amoah, aka Citizen Kofi, recommended the team to the National Sports Authority.
On September 10, Citizen Kofi, in reaction to complaints of the unclean seats for the Black Stars game, wrote
If acceptable to the National Sports Authority, may I approach my friends @buzstopboys to discuss the possibility of them coming to the aid of Ghana to cleanse the Accra Sports Stadium. I believe the combination of Omo, brushes, plenty of water and buckets of paint and the noted ingenuity and patriotic zeal of @buzstopboys with some cash, which I’m prepared to chip in, our national sports epicenter of the Accra Sports Stadium can receive a befitting and much needed facelift… at least in the stands!! Hello National Sports Authority. Can we talk?
The leader of the BuzStop Boys, after getting the attention of the National Sports Authority, expressed his profound gratitude to Citizen Kofi.
