Age is just a number for Cher and Alexander “AE” Edwards.
The 79-year-old Goddess of Pop sat down with Gayle King for an interview on the Tuesday, Nov. 4 episode of CBS Mornings and opened up about her relationship with the 39-year-old music executive — and why age isn’t an issue for them.
Many people have made comments about the pair’s 40-year age difference since they were first romantically linked in 2022, but Cher doesn’t care. “Whatever,” she told King, 70. “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”

Cher explained Edwards doesn’t have a problem with their age difference. “No, thank God,” she said. “He just says, ‘You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.’”
The reasons they click romantically are simple. “We laugh all the time, you know? I just love him,” said the “Believe” singer.
“I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented,” added Cher. “He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
Throughout their relationship, Cher has bonded with Edwards’ 6-year-old son, Slash. “I used to say, ‘God, give me a toddler and a man,’” she dished with a laugh, noting that she got “exactly” what she asked for.
“He’s so funny. He’s so smart. He’s a delight,” she continued of Slash.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cher spoke about her Cherlato brand of gelato and explained some of the flavors are concocted “in my kitchen.”
“I was tasting everything, going from one to another,” she said. “We had like 10 chocolates, because we’re still working on it all the time.”
King noted that many fans will buy the frozen treat just because Cher’s name is attached. “First, I want to say this — I get offered to do everything,” she said. “I don’t want to.”
“I just don’t want to because people feel that I wouldn’t lie to them. I don’t ever want that to change,” declared the Burlesque actress.
