The son of a chief and four other people has reportedly been killed in a violent dispute at Gbiniyiri, a farming community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.
The violent clash, which ensued over a land dispute, also resulted in six people sustaining various injuries.

District Chief Executive, Sinkina Saaka, explained that the clash started after the community chief sold a parcel of land to a private developer.
When the developer began work, some community members resisted. Tensions escalated when the chief and his son visited the site and were attacked.
Three of the victims are in a critical condition. Security personnel have since been deployed to restore peace.
According to a Joy News report, the chief of Gbiniyiri was forced to flee his palace and seek shelter at the Kalba chief’s palace following the clash.
A police source disclosed that the following day, as the chief of Gbiniyiri was returning to his community, the Kalba chief instructed his son to accompany him.
However, they were ambushed and killed by one of the factions involved in the ongoing land dispute.
Following this, a joint security team, led by Savannah Regional Police Commander DCOP Awowolo, was deployed by the Savannah REGSEC to Kalba and Gbiniyiri to safeguard lives and property.
No arrests have been made so far, but more security personnel have been deployed to the area to restore calm.

Kusasi chief reportedly killed by unknown assailants
In a related development, the Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region and head of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants.
The sad incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre.
According to eyewitnesses, two men arrived at the residence on a motorbike at around 8:40 pm. One of them, armed with an AK-47 rifle, fired multiple shots at the chief before they sped off.

Azenbe, who had been enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months earlier, was first taken to the Manhyia District Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the grieving family later that evening and pledged a full-scale investigation to ensure those responsible were brought to justice.
REGSEC bans motorbikes over Kusasi Chief’s death
YEN.com.gh reported earlier that on Wednesday, July 22, 2025, unknown assailants shot and killed the Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region and head of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, Abdul-Malik Azenbe.
This prompted the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the safety of the people.
Following the meeting, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, issued a statement outlining the resolutions they had agreed on.
