The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has raised red flags over the increasing trend of indecent and irresponsible statements being shared on social media by some recent high school graduates.
According to the Authority, worrying posts with phrases such as “we go scatter them” and declarations about “snatching people’s husbands” have gained traction online, sparking public concern.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the CSA reminded graduates that social media is not only a platform for expression and networking but also a permanent record that can shape their academic and professional futures.
“Universities, scholarship boards, and potential employers frequently review social media activity as part of their evaluation process. Irresponsible content can severely damage one’s academic, career, and professional prospects,” the Authority cautioned.
The CSA also warned that beyond damaging reputations, such behaviour could expose young people to cyberbullying, harassment, grooming, and other forms of exploitation. In more serious cases, the actions may breach Ghana’s cybercrime laws, including the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Electronic Communications Act.

Instead, the Authority encouraged young people to channel their energy into positive digital engagement. Social media, it advised, should be used as a platform to “showcase creativity, promote entrepreneurship, build meaningful networks, and access academic and professional opportunities.”
As Ghana continues to deepen its digital transformation, the CSA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting responsible online behaviour and positive digital citizenship among the youth. It noted that it will continue working with the Ministry of Education, civil society groups, and community leaders to drive awareness on safe and responsible social media use.
