Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of Ghana’s National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), has been suspended for two weeks following allegations of improper use of a military personnel.

The presidential directive, effective immediately, follows confirmation that a uniformed soldier served as Agbeti’s personal bodyguard without official authorization.

A July 15 letter from the Office of the President, signed by Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama, described the arrangement as “inappropriate” and stated it had “brought embarrassment to the government.” The suspension allows for a full investigation into the matter after the presidency filed a formal complaint. Sources indicate the soldier accompanied Agbeti at public events, raising protocol concerns within security circles.

Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful enforced the suspension pending the inquiry. The incident highlights ongoing scrutiny of security protocols under President John Mahama’s administration, which has emphasized accountability in public service appointments since taking office in January 2025.
