Legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba’s daughter, Denise, has shared a touching throwback video of them on her birthday.

The Aben Wo Ha hitmaker, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.

He fell ill at his home in East Legon and was rushed to the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra.

Daddy Lumba died shortly after arrival at the facility, stirring sadness across the length and breadth of Ghana.

His family shared a statement announcing his death while simultaneously celebrating his legacy.

Daddy Lumba’s daughter Denise celebrates birthday

Daddy Lumba’s eldest daughter, whom he welcomed with his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, celebrated her 31st birthday on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Denise Nana Ama Fosu took to social media to pay tribute to the late singer on her special day.

She shared a video of them together, taken on her 21st birthday, which was exactly ten years ago on August 14, 2015.

A hearty Daddy Lumba could be seen in the video with his daughter as they attended her birthday party.

They both laughed together as he pointed out something to her on the birthday cake.

Denise explained that the laughter was because the caterer had mistakenly marked her age on the cake as 25 instead of 21.

“10 years ago today Dad. I miss you so much. How hard we laughed when they brought out the cake. They got my age wrong, ’25th’ instead of ’21st’. I can still hear your laughter. Those moments will stay with me forever,” she wrote.

Daddy Lumba cultivated a reputation of mystique throughout his career and was infamous for being stern, unaccommodating and impersonal.
