A new date has been set for the funeral of the late Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

The ceremony is now scheduled to take place on December 13, 2025, following resolutions made at Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on Monday, November 10, 2025.  The decision follows mediation between members of the musician’s family and traditional authorities after weeks of tension and public disagreements over arrangements for his burial.

The family had earlier been summoned after a dispute led to the invocation of the Ntam Kɛseɛ (Great Oath) by Akosua Brempomaa, one of the parties involved in the conflict. During the sitting, the authorities expressed disappointment over how the dispute had brought the late artist’s name into disrepute, urging the family to restore unity and protect his legacy.

A new funeral committee, chaired by Dadiesoaba, has been constituted to oversee all funeral preparations, while the previous committee was dissolved with immediate effect. The new team is expected to coordinate the event and ensure peace among the various family factions.

Meanwhile, Akosua Brempomaa’s request for a post-mortem examination has been granted and the police will supervise the process and handle any investigation into suspected foul play. It was also made clear that the funeral will proceed unless a court injunction requires a delay.

Akosua Brempomaa has been pardoned by the Asantehene for the invocation of the Great Oath and was further cautioned to avoid such actions in the future.

On the issue of the musician’s wives and their participation in the funeral, traditional authorities stated that such matters remain before the court and will be decided legally rather than through customary intervention.

The late Daddy Lumba, celebrated for classics such as Aben Wo Ha, Yentie Obiaa, and Theresa Abebrese, passed away on  July 26, 2025. His funeral was initially planned for December 6, 2025, but has now been moved to December 13, 2025.
