A vigil in honour of Ghanaian highlife great Daddy Lumba has been held at his alma mater, Juaben Senior High School.

On a printed banner at the entrance of the school, the late Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, was hailed as a hero.

“Charles Kwadwo Fosu, aka Daddy Lumba, our hero, your alma mater bids you farewell,” the banner read.

Students from the school gathered at their assembly hall with lit candles and sang what appeared to be their national anthem.

After, they embarked on a procession with the school’s brass band leading the pack.

Daddy Lumba attended Juaben Senior High School after a short stint at Adu Gyamfi Senior High School. He completed his secondary education in 1984.

The highlife great met his childhood sweetheart, Theresa, in high school.

Chairman Wontumi visits Daddy Lumba’s widow

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, had visited Daddy Lumba’s widow.

The politician was seen consoling Odo Broni, who couldn’t hide her tears after the death of her husband.

The legendary highlife singer, who died at the age of 60 after a short illness, had fallen ill and was receiving treatment at the Bank Hospital in Accra.
