A new statement from Daddy Lumba’s family states that the event will now happen at the Black Star Square on August 30.

The late highlife legend’s family was forced to change its plans two days before the scheduled date following a directive from the La Traditional Council.

The traditional rulers, in a statement released on August 28, stated that a ban on noisemaking and funerals across the entire La Traditional Area for this year’s Homowo festival will only be lifted after September 50.

The council suggested that the one-week observance be postponed after the ban is lifted.

However, the planning committee for Daddy Lumba’s one-week observance has presented a new solution.

Rather than change the date, Daddy Lumba’s family announced a new venue, Black Star Square, for the programme.

The new venue in Osu lies outside the La Council’s traditional council’s jurisdiction. The official statement from Daddy Lumba’s team is below.
