Madam Ernestina Fosu, the elder sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has expressed her unpreparedness for the upcoming funeral scheduled for December 6, 2025, following the Kumasi High Court’s dismissal of an injunction application to halt the event.

Enerstina Fosu, who together with Madam Akosua Serwaa ,the musician’s first wife, sought to stop the family from proceeding with the final funeral rites, said she is not ready for the planned date announced by the family.

Speaking to the media outside the court after the ruling on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Enerstina Fosuh maintained that although the court has cleared the way for the funeral to proceed, she personally not ready to take part in the arrangements.

“I have nothing to say; everything is in God’s hands,” she said calmly. “There is no one who loves misunderstanding or fight.”

When pressed further about her preparations towards her brother’s final funeral rites, she replied:

“I’m not ready. That 6th December that has been set for the funeral of my brother, I’m not ready.”

The comments come just hours after Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur of the Kumasi High Court dismissed the interlocutory injunction filed by Akosua Serwaa, ruling that under Ghanaian customary law, authority over a deceased person’s remains lies with the family.

The court held that preventing the family from organizing the funeral would not serve the interest of either the family or the general public.

Following the ruling, the family of the late musician, known privately as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, announced that preparations will continue for the final funeral rites at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on December 6, 2025.

However, Madam Fosuh’s statement suggests that lingering disagreements within the family may continue to cast a shadow over the arrangements.

Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians, passed away on July 26, 2025. His death was met with an outpouring of grief across the nation, and his funeral is expected to draw thousands of fans, industry colleagues, and dignitaries.
