Afrobeats star Davido has officially joined the Recording Academy, the prestigious organization behind the Grammy Awards, as a voting member.
This milestone allows him to actively participate in determining the winners of music’s highest honors. In a statement, Davido described the opportunity as a “gamechanger,” highlighting the importance of having a voice in the selection process.
Expressing his gratitude, Davido said he is honored to be part of the Academy and looks forward to contributing to the integrity and diversity of the Grammy voting system. His involvement signals a growing recognition of Afrobeats on the global stage and reflects his commitment to representing African music in influential spaces.
Davido’s journey with the Grammys began with three nominations in 2024, although he did not secure a win. His fourth nomination came in 2025 for “Sensational,” a collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, which competed for Best African Music Performance but ultimately lost to Tems’ “Love Me Jeje.”
