The rumours gained widespread attention after Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, claimed on social media that a private jet, with registration number M-BAEP, was being used as the president travelled out of the country.
During Diana Asamoah’s stint on Angel FM‘s morning show, the gospel singer teased John Mahama boarding the private jet despite the heavy criticism from his party executives when Nana Akufo-Addo was president.

“The other day, it was said that John Mahama chartered a private jet just like the way my father, President Akufo-Addo, did when he was president,” Diana Asamoah said.
“Our brother, Okudzeto Ablakwa, said that he would resign should John Mahama use a private jet for his trip. The time has come for him to fulfil it so that Ghanaians can believe him,” she added.
Meanwhile, the president’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Stan Dogbe, clarified that John Mahama did not use any private jet but rather flew out of Accra to Japan and Singapore aboard a commercial airline.
Diana Asamoah shares horrific helicopter experience
Diana Asamoah, in her submission, defended Akufo-Addo’s heavily criticised decision to use a private jet for his trips abroad.
The staunch support of Akufo-Addo and his political party, the New Patriotic Party, said the poor state of Ghana’s aricrafts influenced the former president’s decision.
During the show, she shared a similar experience when she boarded a helicopter to Walewale for the funeral of former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s father.
She claimed that the helicopter sounded and had the turbulence of a train.
The topic of aricrafts in Ghana became a trending issue after the tragic helicopter crash on August 6 near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
All eight people aboard the Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter when it crashed were burned to death.
