The elder sister of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, Madam Ernestina Fosuh, has called for a thorough investigation to uncover the real cause of her brother’s death.
Speaking to the media after a court hearing on Friday, October 31, Madam Ernestina Fosuh, who appeared visibly upset, expressed dissatisfaction with how the head of the family, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, is handling issues surrounding her brother’s death and funeral arrangements.
She accused the family head of treating some relatives unfairly, including herself, and behaving as though her late brother “was not a human being.” According to her, there must be a proper probe to determine what exactly led to the musician’s death, warning that without that, “it will not be a smooth journey” between her and the family head.
She further cautioned Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu against touching or attempting to bury her brother’s body until her concerns are addressed. Her warning comes despite a Kumasi High Court ruling earlier this week that gave the family the legal green light to proceed with preparations for the final funeral rites scheduled for December 6, 2025.

It will be recalled that the Kumasi High Court on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, dismissed an injunction application filed by Madam Ernestina Fosuh and Akosua Serwaa, who identified herself as the musician’s legal wife, seeking to halt the planned funeral. The plaintiffs argued that key family members were being sidelined in the funeral arrangements and that certain personal and legal matters had yet to be resolved.
However, the presiding judge, Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, ruled that under Ghanaian customary law, the authority over a deceased person’s remains rests with the family. The court concluded that restraining the family from proceeding with the funeral would not serve the collective interest of either the family or the public.
The dismissal of the injunction paved the way for the family, led by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, to continue preparations for the funeral of the celebrated musician, which is expected to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on December 6, 2025.
