Ghanaian physician and healthcare strategist Dr. Emmanuel Elorm Nortey-Adom has been named the 2025 Forty Under 40 Ghana Awards winner in the Health category, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to healthcare innovation, access, and community transformation in Ghana.
The award honours Dr. Nortey-Adom’s multifaceted leadership in public health, primary care, and medical entrepreneurship—an approach that has helped reshape how healthcare is delivered and accessed across the country.
As Co-Founder of the OT Cares Foundation, Dr. Nortey-Adom has led initiatives that address pressing public health challenges such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. The Foundation’s flagship programs—OT Hits the Streets and Miles for Smiles: Breasts Matter—have reached over 20,000 people across Accra, Cape Coast, and the Northern Regions, combining mass health education with on-the-ground screenings and community training. Through these programs, more than 1,000 community health workers have been equipped to serve as long-term agents of change in their districts, providing a sustainable model for strengthening Ghana’s primary healthcare system.
In the private sector, Dr. Nortey-Adom co-founded NR Meds Pharmaceuticals, a company focused on improving access to essential medical consumables including catheters, sterile lubricants, and diagnostic tools for cancer and reproductive health procedures. The firm has distributed over 10,000 units nationwide and reduced procurement costs for hospitals and diagnostic centres by an average of 15 percent. By optimizing supply chains, NR Meds has ensured timely access to critical materials that support life-saving care in both urban and rural settings.
Dr. Nortey-Adom’s impact has also been felt in the clinical field. During his tenure as Lead General Practitioner at Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital, he spearheaded large-scale community and corporate health screening programs that reached more than 4,000 individuals, identifying early-stage chronic diseases and linking patients to specialized care. His leadership advanced Euracare’s reputation for precision diagnostics and minimally invasive treatments, expanding access to care for conditions such as brain aneurysms and retinoblastoma—once requiring overseas referrals.
Internationally, Dr. Nortey-Adom is a Johns Hopkins University alumnus, holding dual postgraduate degrees in Public Health (MPH) and Business Administration (MBA), with a focus on healthcare technology and innovation. His academic excellence earned him induction into the Delta Omega Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma, reserved for the top ten percent of global graduates. He has co-authored research on medical career choices in Ghana and has been involved in oncology and digital health projects.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nortey-Adom co-led a campaign that raised approximately £5,000 to supply PPE to frontline workers in Ghana—demonstrating his continued commitment to national health resilience.
Beyond Ghana, he has been a speaker and delegate at global forums including United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) side events on health equity and the Global Africa Business Initiative’s Unstoppable Africa event, where he engaged in discussions on leveraging African innovation for global health solutions. He currently serves as a Senior Consultant in Life Sciences, advising multinational pharmaceutical and medical technology firms on strategies to expand equitable access to healthcare innovations.
Dr. Nortey-Adom’s recognition at the Forty Under 40 Ghana Awards underscores his role as one of the nation’s most promising health leaders—one whose work bridges community health, clinical care, and international policy. His award not only celebrates individual excellence but also highlights the transformative potential of youth-driven healthcare leadership in Africa.
