Khaya.AI, the brainchild of Ghanaian researcher and entrepreneur Dr. Paul Azunre, has launched a groundbreaking AI-powered speech-recognition and text-to-speech technology that supports 32 African languages.
The innovation, demonstrated in a recent video, allows users to upload or record audio directly in languages like Ewe, Fante, Ga, Nzema, Adangme, and Asante Twi with instant and accurate transcription. Dr. Azunre, who also performs musically as Dr. Pushkin, described it as a step toward bridging Africa’s digital language divide.
“This technology could empower more than 540 million Africans by giving their languages a voice online,” he said. The platform, notably the only one supporting all Ghanaian government-sponsored languages, marks a historic stride in linguistic inclusion.
Khaya.AI aims to expand digital access, boost education, and preserve indigenous languages, reinforcing Africa’s place in the global AI revolution.
