Controversial gospel singer and self-proclaimed evangelist, Akwasi Nyarko, has called on the government for aid following a purported career downfall.

In a video making waves online, the gospel artiste called on President John Dramani Mahama with complaints about economic hardship and neglect.

Akwasi claimed that he had been neglected after supporting the ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in past elections.

According to him, he is frustrated with his current living conditions and claimed he had gone days without eating and was unable to pay his child’s school fees.

In his words:

“President Mahama, it seems you’ve forgotten about me. I composed a campaign song for you. I’m hungry, I haven’t eaten in 3 days because I have no money. My child has dropped out of school because I can’t afford the fees.”

Akwasi calls out President Mahama for help

Akwasi Nyarko is known for his worship songs and public endorsement of the NDC, particularly in the Ashanti Region.

Sadly, he claimed that his involvement in the party’s politics has put a dent in his music career

“I’m not getting shows because I sang and campaigned for the NDC in the Ashanti Region. Please come to my aid; don’t let me die like Daddy Lumba and Dada KD,” he said.

He added:

“Please, I am hungry, come and help me,” he pleaded.

MPs sing their favourite Daddy Lumba songs
