
An eyewitness at the Liverpool versus Bournemouth game on the opening day of the Premier League has recounted how Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo suffered racial abuse.
Semenyo was the subject of an abuse from a fan in the opening half of the game at Anfield leading to the match being paused for some minutes before resumption.
The Ghanaian international reported the incident to the centre referee who went on to speak to officials from both clubs.
Bournemouth suffered a 4-2 loss in the game despite Semenyo’s brace in the second half.
Following the game, a fan at the stadium explained the details of the unpleasant incident at Anfield.

Liverpool also issued a statement on the issue adding that they are going to investigate the matter.
