The incident, which became one of Ghana’s most talked-about scandals, involved Kwame Owusu Fordjour, popularly known as Dr. UN, who staged a fake awards ceremony at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
Branded as the “7th Global Leadership Service to Humanity Awards,” it falsely claimed affiliation with the United Nations and the Kofi Annan Foundation. Notable personalities, including Sarkodie, Berla Mundi, D-Black, and politicians like Alban Bagbin, were deceived into accepting the bogus honors.
Though initially convincing due to its formal presentation, the scheme quickly unraveled after media investigations revealed its fraudulent nature. The embarrassment sparked intense trolling on social media, cementing Dr. UN’s reputation as one of Ghana’s boldest conmen. Years later, the episode still lingers in public memory—so much so that even D-Black admits he sometimes rethinks his forgiveness.
