Talk about a life U-turn! Ana Nycole Gomes, 24, has revealed why she left the quiet, disciplined life of a convent to teach yoga on the beach in just a bikini — and it all started with a chance encounter that left a lasting impression.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ana said she was 16 when a stranger at a church youth retreat in Alagoas, Brazil jokingly told her she was “too beautiful to be a nun.”
“It was like someone turned a light on inside me,” Ana recalled. “I started to wonder if I was ready to give up the world before I’d even lived in it.”
Though the man never reappeared in her life, his words sparked a rebellion in Ana that changed her trajectory forever.
“I grew up believing I was born to live in seclusion. My family raised me for that. But when someone told me I was ‘too beautiful to be a nun,’ something changed inside me,” she said.
Now based in Maceió, Brazil, Ana spends her days finding discipline and freedom in yoga, trading her convent robes for a bikini and the open beach.
“I started to wonder if I was ready to give up my youth, my desires, my freedom,” she admitted. “I grew up between loss and the need to reinvent myself.”
Ana’s story is a striking reminder that sometimes a few words from a stranger can spark a life-changing awakening — and in her case, it meant swapping a life of isolation for sun, sand, and stretching in a bikini.
