Hilda Baci’s new GWR attempt

In an Instagram post on Friday, the renowned chef noted that the landmark cooking event will take place on September 12, 2025, in collaboration with popular seasoning and culinary brand, Gino.

According to Hilda, the pot for the special event will be massive, measuring six metres wide and six metres tall.

Sharing her excitement with fans, she wrote:

“Almost two years ago I had the dream to cook the largest pot of Jollof Rice ever made. And now, with ginonaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive. Six meters wide. Six meters tall. September 12, we make history together. Because what is Jollof without you to share it with?”

Hilda emphasised not only the scale of the project but also its communal spirit, highlighting that Jollof rice is best enjoyed when shared, a subtle nod to its role as a unifying West African dish.

In an accompanying video going viral online, the chef, who gained global fame with her 2023 Cook-a-thon, a 100-hour marathon that earned her a Guinness World Record, described the upcoming challenge as more than just cooking.

“Some dreams keep us awake until we make them reality. In 2023, it was the Hildebassi Cookathon that took the world by storm. This year, it’s Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa. A taste that tells our story. It’s more than cooking. It’s a celebration of our food, our culture, music and us,” she explained.

With this, Baci framed the giant Jollof project as a cultural statement, an event designed to showcase not only Nigeria’s culinary excellence but also its music, traditions, and collective identity.

“We’re making history again and I want you to be there when it happens. Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world has ever seen. And today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality,” she added.
