Accra – August 8, 2025 — The Association of Fundamental Baptist Churches has extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the people of Ghana following the fatal Air Force helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including senior government officials, cabinet ministers, and military personnel.
In a message signed by its President, Rev. Dr. Francis Owen Ackah, the Church body described the August 6 tragedy as a “national loss” of men and women who “served their beloved country with honor, dignity, and distinction.”
The statement also made special mention of Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, a young pilot and devoted member of one of its congregations, whose life, it noted, “was marked by faith, courage, and commitment” and whose passing was “a deep loss to our Church family.”
“We stand with all the bereaved families in prayers and solidarity,” the Church assured, urging the President and the nation to “take solace and comfort in the good Lord, that even though you loved them, our good Lord loved them most.”
Quoting Psalm 116:15 — “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints” — Rev. Dr. Owen Ackah reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to intercede for the government, seeking divine wisdom and direction as the state prepares a befitting burial for the deceased.
The August 6 crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District has plunged the nation into mourning, with tributes pouring in from across Ghana and beyond.
