Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the Chief Imam, has paid a visit to the bereaved family of Dr Murtala Muhammed, one of the victims of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash.

The Chief Imam visited the bereaved family to express his condolences and also to pray for the soul of the departed.

Dr Murtala Muhammed was among the eight victims of the tragic August 6, 2025, helicopter crash.

The eight, comprising five government officials and three GAF workers, perished on their way to an event in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

Details of how the incident happened are not known; however, some residents claim they witnessed the flight crash into a tree. Following the incident, the aircraft’s black box has been found.

Hundreds of prominent Ghanaian personalities have visited the homes of the deceased persons to sympathise with their families.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the Chief Imam was accompanied by Baba Sadiq and other dignitaries.

He was warmly welcomed by mourners who had also gathered at Dr Murtala Muhammed’s residence to mourn their passing.
