The letter was signed by the Director, Schools and Instructions Division, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, on behalf of the Acting Director-General of the GES.
The circular was issued to all Regional Directors of Education. The GES directed that the new students in both Single Track and Transitional schools should report on the specified date to begin their academic journey.
“The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES)wishes to inform Heads of all Second Cycle Institutions of the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar Reporting Date for First-Year Students (Single Track and Transitional Schools) is 18th October, 2025.”
The GES attached a detailed academic calendar to the letter, which includes key term dates, holidays, and footnotes explaining special considerations to support a smooth academic year.
The GES directed all Regional Directors to circulate the calendar to all heads of schools in their jurisdiction.
“Regional Directors are kindly requested to disseminate the attached Academic Calendar to all Heads of Second Cycle Institutions under your jurisdiction, and ensure that Heads strictly adhere to the calendar to guarantee consistency and smooth implementation across all schools. Provide the necessary monitoring and support to Heads of Schools in the execution of the calendar.”
“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the GES added.
Former President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his decision on the introduction of the double-track SHS system, which will accommodate the increase in the number of students due to the Free SHS.

“What exactly is the situation with those in form one double truck schools? Does this mean they will remain at home without completing their second semester until January 2026? “Why the online and offline again? How many of the students have gadgets to learn online? Who would pay for data for the facilitator and learner?”
