Ghana’s Ministry of Health has disbursed $44.3 million to fund training for approximately 120,000 nursing students nationwide.

The allocation, announced Thursday, covers six months of financial support as part of a broader government initiative to address critical healthcare workforce shortages.

Officials stated the investment underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening the health sector through sustained human resource development. The ministry emphasized that the funding aims to improve trainees’ welfare and maintain motivation among future healthcare professionals during their education.

“This disbursement represents a significant step in ensuring critical human resources receive consistent support throughout their training,” the ministry’s release noted. The move aligns with ongoing national efforts to bolster healthcare capacity amid rising demand for skilled medical personnel across Ghana.
