The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has intensified efforts to promote whistleblowing among youth, focusing on junior high schools in the Upper East Region.

Regional Focal Person Emmanuel Anafo emphasized citizen reporting as both a civic duty and moral imperative during African Union Anti-Corruption Day activities.

School engagements in Bolgatanga Municipality and Talensi District educated students about protections under Ghana’s Whistleblower Act. At Takano and Palugu Junior High Schools, participants received guidance on reporting corruption to the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, and other agencies. Anafo noted the initiative addresses underreporting fueled by community mistrust and apathy.

“Building courage to expose wrongdoing must begin early,” Anafo stated, observing students’ enthusiastic reception of anti-corruption messaging. The coalition distributed branded materials with official reporting channels, aiming to foster lifelong commitment to accountability. This effort aligns with national governance priorities under President John Mahama’s administration.
