Ghanaian boxer Jacob Tetteh Laryea (12-1-0) has called for an immediate rematch against DR Congo’s Jacques Tshikubu Muvud (10-3-1), citing a critical wrist injury sustained during their African Boxing Union (ABU) Super Welterweight title bout in Kolwezi.

Laryea, known as “Chorkor Fire,” revealed he fought predominantly one-handed after injuring his right wrist in the third round, ultimately suffering his first career defeat. “I accept the loss but want a rematch. He can’t last seven rounds if I’m fit,” Laryea stated on Omashi TV’s The Big Fight Night.

The Bronx Boxing Club athlete displayed his swollen hand post-fight, explaining the injury forced him to rely solely on his left hand. “It hurt to use my right, so I adjusted. Even the round-12 knockdown—I rose and finished,” he added, praising trainer Carl Lokko and his management. Despite apologizing to fans, Laryea framed the loss as motivation: “I’ve learned from this. ‘Chorkor Fire’ burns wilder now.”

Laryea aims to return to training once healed, vowing to “win something bigger” in pursuit of the ABU belt.
