Ghanaian footballers have hailed betPawa’s Locker Room Bonus initiative as transformative after the sports betting firm renewed its commitment with a $380,843 payment to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

At a signing ceremony in Accra, players from the Men’s Premiership and Malta Guinness Women’s League described the 400ghc per-match incentive as a game-changer.

“This bonus pushes us to dig deeper and showcase skills we didn’t know we had,” said Faith Ladies’ Beauty Abena Julius, representing players. She noted the direct payment eases financial pressure on clubs while motivating peak performance.

GFA Secretary General Prosper Harrison Addo revealed the concept was “cooked in Ghana” and is now inspiring similar programs across Africa. “We prioritize player welfare because happy athletes deliver for fans,” he added, citing GFA President Kurt Okraku’s CAF leadership role.

betPawa’s Borah Omary Ndanyungu confirmed equal payments for male and female players separate from club bonuses calling player testimonials proof of success.

The firm also built a FIFA-approved pitch at Ghana’s Prampram technical center, though Addo appealed for added stands and dressing rooms. Club administrator Larry Abbey of Jonina Ladies stressed the initiative’s practical relief: “It lifts financial burdens so we focus on football.”

The renewed deal, marked by a dummy cheque handover, underscores betPawa’s investment since 2022 in supporting 20 players and three officials per club. As players gear up for the new season, the locker room incentive promises continued impact on and off the pitch.
