Fuel prices across Ghana remained unchanged as the first August 2025 pricing window commenced, defying projections of marginal adjustments.

Major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) including TotalEnergies, Shell, Goil, and Star Oil—maintained petrol at ₵12.50–₵13.30 per litre and diesel at ₵12.67–₵14.50, with premium products similarly steady.

The stability contrasts sharply with a July 31 Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) report forecasting a 0.47% petrol rise and diesel/LPG declines up to 1.8%.

Industry sources attribute the freeze to stable international crude costs, a resilient cedi, and OMCs’ strategic preference for predictability amid pending new shipments. Ghana’s bi-weekly pricing system permits flexibility, allowing companies to defer changes during market uncertainty.

While select stations like Viggo offer petrol as low as ₵11.50 and TotalEnergies charges up to ₵13.30, the broad price spectrum remains intact.

The pause leaves open whether adjustments will emerge later in the window, with OMCs weighing global trends and currency dynamics ahead of the next review.
