Interior Minister Mubarak Muntaka has ordered mandatory registration of all mining machinery with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by August 1, 2025.
The directive, announced via the Ministry’s official channels, aims to combat illegal mining and streamline sector operations.
Unregistered equipment will face state confiscation starting August 2, with enforcement led by the Ghana Police Service and DVLA. The policy requires compliance from all mining entities including small-scale operators and industrial firms to avoid asset forfeiture.
This crackdown aligns with President John Mahama’s broader mining sector reforms under the National Democratic Congress administration, targeting unregulated practices that damage the environment and evade revenue controls. The Ministry urged immediate registration to prevent disruptions.
