Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has secured international partnerships to establish two public universities in Ghana’s Jasikan and Kintampo regions.

Memoranda of Understanding were signed with Egypt’s Gharably Integrated Engineering Company (GEICO) and Morocco’s CMS Group, advancing President John Mahama’s tertiary education expansion agenda.

Iddrisu confirmed the firms will collaborate with the Education Ministry to develop the institutions, addressing critical regional skill shortages. “These universities represent transformative steps toward inclusive national development,” he stated, emphasizing alignment with the National Democratic Congress administration’s human capital investment goals.

The projects target underserved educational landscapes: Jasikan in the Oti Region and Kintampo spanning Bono East and Savannah Regions. No construction timelines or funding details were disclosed. The initiative follows Mahama’s recent abolition of teacher licensure exams, signaling comprehensive education sector reforms.
