The Assemblies of God (AG) has officially launched the 2026 World Assemblies of God Congress, Ghana, calling on the global church to strengthen evangelism, missions, and discipleship.
Scheduled for October 14–16, 2026, the congress is expected to draw over 10,000 pastors, ministers, and church leaders from around the world, marking one of the largest Christian gatherings ever held in Ghana. Speaking at the launch in Accra, Rev. Dominic Yeo, Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), described the event as a divinely appointed moment for Ghana and the global church to renew their mandate of reaching every nation with the gospel. The congress theme, “Commission. One Mandate, Every Nation,” highlights its historic significance as the first WAGF congress to be held in Africa.
Rev. Yeo praised Ghana’s stability, democratic credentials, respect for the rule of law, and vibrant culture as key reasons for selecting the nation as host. He noted that the event would attract thousands of international delegates while boosting the local economy through tourism, business, investment opportunities, and global visibility. He also emphasized the spiritual mission of the congress, which aligns with the MM33 vision to plant one million Assemblies of God churches worldwide by 2033. The church now has nearly 90 million members globally, with someone coming to Christ every 18 seconds through its ministry.

Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, highlighted the denomination’s global impact, noting 51,000 local churches, 20 million members across Africa, and the deployment of 8,000 missionaries in over 190 countries. He also announced a local organising committee chaired by Rev. Andrews Nelson Awentia, with Madam Gifty Ejefianco heading the secretariat, and ongoing engagements with government and security agencies to ensure a successful event.
The congress programme will feature daytime plenary sessions at Black Star Square and evening revival rallies at Accra Sports Stadium, along with workshops, prayer sessions, and global worship celebrations led by internationally recognised ministers and gospel artistes.
