Ghana’s creative industry took the spotlight at the Africa Creative Market 2025, held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, through a powerful showcase of talent and collaboration. Thanks to a partnership between Fashion Evo and Fashion Connect Africa (FCA), Ghanaian designers — House of Paon, Afia Achiaa, KatieO, and Kojo Boadi — presented collections at the Fashion Evo Fashion Show and Awards night, reinforcing Ghana’s growing influence on the African fashion map.
Victoria Michaels on FCA’s Mission
Speaking from the FCA booth, Victoria Michaels, Chief Inspiration Officer of Fashion Connect Africa, modelpreneur, and EU Goodwill Ambassador in Ghana, described the collaboration as a milestone moment.
“What excites me the most is that we were able to bring Ghanaian creatives like House of Paon, Afia Achiaa, Kojo Boadi, and KatieO to this platform. They did not disappoint — they were incredible. This outing proves that Ghana has so much creative talent to offer Africa and the world,” she said.
Michaels also highlighted the “Seed to Stage” initiative, an FCA project aimed at giving overlooked street tailors and young designers a global platform. Through this initiative, Ghana’s Nikita Clothing and Liberia’s Joelle earned all-expenses-paid opportunities to showcase in Lagos, a moment both brands described as life-changing.
Ghanaian Designers Shine
The designers expressed excitement about the exposure and connections made in Lagos. Collins Obeng-Marnu of House of Paon, showcasing for the first time in Lagos, described the experience as inspiring:“Being on these platforms builds better connections. Social media makes the world smaller, but meeting people in person makes it real. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
Michael Akotu Addo creative director of Afia Achiaa, presented a ready-to-wear line that celebrates modern African women while complementing his couture label Quophi Akotuah.“This event has been a good opener for Ghanaian brands like us. We’ve built valuable contacts and met potential clients.”
Nikita Clothing’s Gloria Arachi, a Seed to Stage winner, shared her gratitude: “I never imagined I would make it to such a runway. This opportunity has changed everything for me.”
Ghanaian model Michael Matthew, who walked at the event, praised the show as one of the best he has ever experienced, noting the high level of creativity and professionalism.
Creativity Beyond Fashion
Ghana’s presence also extended beyond clothing. Christele Codo, founder of Afro Ele Hair Artistry, participated for the first time in Nigeria, showcasing innovative approaches to natural hair styling. “Nigeria is truly a circle of creativity. I’ve learned so much here, and I’m excited about future collaborations,” she said.
A Continental Stage for Ghana
The Africa Creative Market continues to position itself as a hub for cross-border collaboration, networking, and business opportunities in the creative economy. With platforms like Fashion Evo and the commitment of initiatives such as Fashion Connect Africa, Ghanaian designers are not only making their mark but also shaping the future of African fashion.
