A Ghanaian man living in Cambodia has stirred reactions on social media after he shared a cultural surprise regarding his relationship with the ladies in the country.

In a video that is trending online, the unnamed man contrasted his romantic experience with the women back in his home continent of Africa with that of Cambodia in Asia.
According to him, in Africa, declarations of love often feel transactional or insincere, and the only genuine emotion expressed truthfully is hatred. However, the opposite is the case in the Asian country.
He said:
“In Africa, if somebody tells you ‘I love you,’ it’s fake. The only thing in Africa that is real is when someone tells you, ‘I hate you.’ If someone in Africa tells you, ‘I hate you,’ they are telling you the truth.”

He explained that he has been warmly embraced by his Cambodian girlfriend and her entire family, including her parents and siblings. He said he was overwhelmed by the genuine love and care they showed him.

Buttressing his point, he recalled how he usually spent his last dime to buy ‘Indomie’ for his girlfriend when he was in Ghana, but such is not the case in his new relationship with the Cambodian girlfriend.
In his words:
“I came here to Cambodia, and the girl I am with, her three sisters, her mother, her father… the whole family loves me. The way they treat me… The Cambodian people are very lovely.”
He went on to encourage his fellow Ghanaians to visit Cambodia, where they could experience the love that the country has to offer.
