Giorgio Armani misses 2025 men’s fashion week

In June 2025, Armani notably missed attending the Milan Men’s Fashion Week, an unprecedented event during his illustrious career.

This marked the first time he did not make his traditional appearance to take a bow at his brand’s showcase.

At that time, the company informed the public that he was “currently recovering at home,” though specific details regarding his health were not disclosed.

The Instagram photos are below:

Who is Giorgio Armani?

Born in 1934 in the historic northern Italian town of Piacenza, Armani initially pursued a career in medicine before briefly serving in the military.

It wasn’t until 1957 that he found his passion for fashion, securing a position as a window dresser at the renowned La Rinascente department store in Milan.

This role was pivotal, sparking his lifelong connection with Italy’s fashion capital and setting the stage for his future successes.

How did Giorgio Armani become a designer?

In 1964, designer Nino Cerruti recognised Armani’s potential while he was working as a buyer at La Rinascente and offered him the opportunity to design menswear.

It was during this time that he became acquainted with the concept of unstructured jackets, eschewing traditional linings and stiff paddings that allowed the natural contours of the body to be highlighted.

This innovative approach would become one of Armani’s hallmarks, earning him critical acclaim in the fashion world.

While collaborating with Cerruti, Armani met Sergio Galeotti, an architect who later became both his life partner and business ally.

Galeotti played a crucial role in encouraging Armani to pursue his own path in fashion, which led to the founding of the Giorgio Armani brand in 1975.

Giorgio Armani expands his business

Throughout his career, Armani expanded his brand significantly, introducing a variety of successful diffusion lines, including Emporio Armani, as well as other spin-offs like Armani Jeans, Armani Exchange, and the luxury home interiors collection, Armani/Casa.

In 2011, he completed a substantial project by opening a vast Armani complex in downtown Milan, which encompassed an entire city block.

This multifaceted establishment not only offered an array of products from the various Armani lines, including gourmet chocolates, floral arrangements, fine jewellery, and cosmetics, but also featured a nightclub and a luxury hotel.

This initiative followed the establishment of the Armani Hotel Dubai in the previous year, located within the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Giorgio Armani ventures into sports

In addition to fashion, Armani had a long-standing passion for sports, exemplified by his acquisition of Olimpia Milano in 2008, Italy’s most successful basketball team.

He later launched EA7, a sports apparel line inspired by the jersey number of Ukrainian soccer star Andriy Shevchenko, who previously played for AC Milan.

Drawing inspiration from this line’s aesthetic, Armani designed the Italian national team’s uniforms for several Olympic Games, including London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Tokyo 2020, merging high fashion with athletic performance in his unique style.
