Para-athletes from Ghana’s Gogetdem Racing Club delivered historic performances at the 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon, with CEO and coach Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe securing his second consecutive gold in the 42km wheelchair category.

The club fielded 12 athletes including five teenage debutants aged 14–18—marking significant growth from previous editions.

Seventeen-year-old Fadiga Mohammed claimed victory in the 10km regular chair event, while Sulley Seidu Sagbarigu took silver in the 42km race. Kodom Patrick, competing in his first major event after just one year of training, earned bronze. Nkegbe framed the achievements as a testament to resilience: “This demonstrates our club’s vision: never give up on reaching the finish line.” He dedicated the wins to former Paralympian Yusuf (based in the U.S.) for supporting the team’s participation.

The performances underscored rising depth in Ghana’s para-sports scene, with young athletes like Mohammed signaling a promising future. Nkegbe emphasized the symbolic weight of his repeat victory: “This isn’t just a win—it’s leadership. They look up to me.”
