The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched the MTS Taxpayer’s App, a new digital platform designed to simplify tax payment and compliance for individuals and business owners in the informal sector.
The app is now available for download on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The new solution operates under the Modified Taxation Scheme (MTS), a system aimed at making tax filing more practical for informal workers by removing the complexity associated with the traditional tax process. GRA stresses that this is not a new tax, but a redesigned and more accessible way to help taxpayers meet their obligations with ease.
To register, users will need basic details including their Ghana Card, phone number, GPS address and business turnover or sales information. The app allows self-registration, enabling taxpayers to manage their own profiles and payments without visiting a GRA office.
The announcement was made during a press forum in Accra, where Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, and key executives engaged editors and members of the GRA Press at the Accra City Hotel.
