Nine-time GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis is currently in Ghana with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) as part of a cultural and historical visit aimed at deepening ties between Ghana and the African diaspora.
The visit, which runs from October 8 to 12, 2025, includes a series of engagements celebrating jazz, education, and Ghana’s rich musical heritage.
At a press session held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Marsalis and members of the JLCO reflected on the role of jazz as a bridge between cultures and its deep connection to Africa’s creative spirit. They highlighted the importance of mentorship and music education in shaping future musicians and fostering collaboration across borders.
The visit will culminate in two live performances at +233 Jazz Bar & Grill on October 10 and 11, where the orchestra is expected to deliver a world-class showcase of jazz excellence.
